Before you start
Have ready the exact name of your business, its address (or your service area if you travel), your phone number, website and hours. You will need a Google account: use the one you will keep for your business.
The creation steps
- 1
First search for your business on Google: a listing may already exist, and it is better to claim it than to create a second one.
- 2
If it doesn’t exist, add your business from Google Maps or the Google Business Profile site.
- 3
Fill in the name, main category, address or service area, phone and website.
- 4
Add your hours, including closing days.
- 5
Start the verification Google asks for.
Verification
Google has to make sure you are really in charge of the place. Depending on your business and situation, the method offered may be a postcard, a call, a text, an email or a video. Follow the method you are offered, and don’t go through an intermediary who promises to “verify faster”.
Once verified: complete the listing
Add real photos (front, inside, team, finished work), the list of your services or products, a factual description of your business and your useful links (booking, quotes).
Put your review link into circulation from the start: a listing that begins with real reviews inspires trust faster.
Mistakes that get a listing suspended
Putting keywords in the name, using a mailbox address or an address where you don’t receive customers, creating several listings for the same business, giving false information. If your listing is suspended, go through the reinstatement form in the official help.
Check your result
Once the listing is in place, our check-up shows you in a checklist what is left to complete. Free, no account.
