Optimising your Google Business Profile

The checklist of things to fill in so your listing is complete and up to date.

The basics

Exact name of the business (without adding keywords: Google refuses that), address, service area if you travel to customers, phone number, website.

Regular and special opening hours (public holidays, holidays). A listing with the wrong hours loses customers and triggers avoidable negative reviews.

Categories and services

Choose the primary category that best describes your main activity, then add a few relevant secondary categories.

Fill in the list of your services or products with a short, clear description, in the words your customers use.

Photos

Add real photos: the front of the premises, the inside, the team, your work. Replace them when they are out of date.

Description and posts

The description presents your business in a few factual sentences. Posts (news, offers, events) show that the listing is alive.

Reviews and questions

Reply to reviews regularly and keep an eye on the questions people ask.

Turn on notifications so no review goes unanswered for weeks.

Check your listing

Our check-up turns these points into a tick-list and shows you what to do first. Free, no account, and the score only counts what you have ticked.

Check it regularly

Once a quarter, reread your listing the way a new customer would: opening hours, phone number, photos, links. Information changes fast and web users can suggest edits that you have to approve.

A space to manage it all

QR code and poster to print, review requests by email to your customers, help writing your replies. The free account is enough to get started.
