How it works
Google offers a review form that opens directly on your listing. Its address is built from your place's ID, or provided by the “Ask for reviews” button of your profile. The tool recognises both forms, checks that the address really is a review form, then makes the QR code that leads to it. Nothing is sent to our servers: the calculation happens on your device.
Where to put the QR code
The right place is where the customer already has their phone in hand and a calm moment: next to the till or payment terminal, on the back of the receipt or bill, on the invoice or quote, on the business card, in your email signature. For a tradesperson, the end of the job with the invoice works well. For a restaurant, the bill or the tray. Our guide details the best places for your business: where to put your review QR code.
What not to do
- Don't ask only the customers you know are happy: Google forbids filtering who you ask. Show the same QR code to everyone.
- Don't offer anything in exchange for a review (discount, gift, service): it's against Google's rules, even if you don't ask for a positive review.
- Don't write reviews on your own listing and don't have friends, family or employees write them.
The rules change: read Google's official reviews help from time to time. Our guide covers all of this: getting more Google reviews, honestly.
